James Samuel Ramsey

November 13, 1929 — February 22, 2017

James Samuel “Sam” Ramsey, 87, of Pueblo and formerly of Fowler, went to be with the Lord Jesus on February 22, 2017 at the Life Care Center in Pueblo. He was born on November 13, 1929 in Sturgeon, Missouri to Fred & Urilla (Blackwell) Ramsey. He married Joan L. Dilts on June 1, 1948 in Raton, New Mexico they were high school sweethearts; she preceded him in death on September 16, 2014.

Sam and his family moved to the family homestead north of Fowler when he was 3 years old. He graduated high school from Boone. He worked at the steel mills for 28 years. He was saved at 54 years old, attending bible school at the Independent Baptist College in Dallas, TX. He later pastored in Beulah, Colorado for three and a half years and pastored at the Pitkin Baptist Church for 25 years and four years at the Highland Baptist Church before retiring.

Sam is survived by his son, Samuel Kyle Ramsey of Pueblo; daughter, Debra Ann (Pete) Lindt of Rush, CO; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Tabert Lee Ramsey on January 16, 2013 and grandson, Wesley James Ramsey.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Baptist Church, 2122 Overton Road, Pueblo with Pastor Chuck Bigler officiating.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
