Janet Carver

Janet (Locke) Carver was born to George and Sybil (Davis) Locke in the family home near Utlyville, CO (about 15-20 miles east of Kim, CO) on October 10, 1943.  Janet attended school in Kim, CO and graduated Kim High School in 1961.
In 1955 the gospel of Jesus came into their community via two servants of God.  Janet went to many gospel meetings in Andrix, CO (east of Kim).  In the summer of 1956 Janet went to Happy Texas convention and made her choice to embrace the faith that Jesus lived and taught.  Janet remained very faithful and strong living for Jesus until her death.
Janet attended Lamar Junior College for two years then Western State College in Gunnison, CO.  After graduating from Western State  Janet  taught  Second  Grade in Cheyenne Wells, CO.  In 1968 Janet moved to Ft. Morgan, CO to teach Second Grade.
Janet spent the summer of 1968 in La Junta, CO helping care for her mother, who was recovering from surgery.  While attending Gospel Meetings, in Harmony Hall, she met Ray Carver.  In June Ray embraced the same faith as Janet who was a tremendous help and encouragement for him spiritually.  During the summer their friendship grew stronger and deeper both in the faith of Jesus and for each other.  Janet returned to Ft. Morgan for school.  Ray and Janet married on September 28, 1968.  They lived in Ft. Morgan until March 1969.  They moved to La Junta and lived at 1014 San Juan Ave., until October 1978.  They moved to 23277 Rd 28, resided there until her death, Sunday, January 13, 2013.  To this union two children were born, Kevin Ray Carver and Cheryl Ann Carver.
Janet loved reading and listening to the word of God.  She also enjoyed quiet time at home reading or crocheting.  She always had a smile, was pleasant and kind hearted.  Janet loved her family, especially her grand children.  Janet leaves behind her husband, Ray of the home; son, Kevin (Christa) Carver, grandsons, Conner and Keenan; daughter, Cheryl Avens, grandchildren, McKensie and Matthew; sister, Pat and Harold Halbig; one aunt; numerous cousins; many friends and acquaintances.
 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2013, at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Jim Price and John Hartig officiating.
