Janice A. Monaco

Janice A. Monaco, 76, longtime La Junta resident, passed away on May 18, 2013 at home. Janice was born on April 11, 1937 in Las Animas, CO to Lonie & Eva (Odell) Netherton. She attended school in Las Animas, graduating from Bent County High School in 1955.  She married Renald "Ren" Monaco on Nov. 27, 1954; he preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2000.

Janice worked with her husband for many years as a bookkeeper at the Monaco Business Systems (MBS). She was a cook at the La Junta Junior High School for many years.  She enjoyed attending class reunions in Las Animas, geneology, and flower gardening.  She cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & sister and will be greatly missed.

Janice is survived by her sons, Steve (Julie) Monaco of Milliken, CO and Larry Monaco of Wheatland, WY; her daughter, Lisa Monaco of La Junta; her brother, Russell Netherton of Longmont, CO; her sister, Nancy (Darol) Smith of Las Animas; her grandchildren, Larica Monaco of Oklahoma, Lonnie Monaco of Oklahoma, and Crispin Encinias of La Junta; her great-grandchildren, Clint, Dyllin, and Aspen Cote; and Janice's many lifelong loyal friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Andy Albright of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating.
