On Friday January 22, 2021, Heaven gained another Angel, Jasper Bryant Jr., he was 89, he resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his wife Patricia of 17 years.
Jasper was born at home in Moro, Arkansas, on March 27, 1931, to Jasper Gray and Bertha Pearline (Cupp) Bryant. Jasper was born into a large family of 12 siblings, he had to leave school after 5th grade to help his father on the cotton farm. In 1949 he joined the United States (Arkansas) National Guard and was later honorably discharged. Jasper had several jobs over the years, janitorial work, mechanic, and gas company.
In 1970 he moved his previous wife (Bernice) and 5 children to Colorado. Billy Ray (Marilyn) Bryant of Aurora; Timothy Lee (Patty Roth) Bryant of California; Diana Lynn (Donny) Hansen of Cheraw; Annette (Mark) Williams of Tennessee; Nadine Bryant (Arlen Lierz) of Kansas.
In La Junta he owned and operated a Chevron station, also worked at Western Canning as a mechanic. He joined the Railroad Company where he enjoyed working until he received his Certificate of Honor June 29, 1996 upon retirement and in recognition of 24 years of faithful service in the employ of The Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway Company. Once he retired, he was able to enjoy many different hobbies such as, teaching his grandkids to water ski and play Skip-Bo, fishing, traveling, golfing and Polka dancing.
Jasper is survived by wife, Pat Bryant and his 5 children; brother, Melbra of La Junta; sisters Ruth Hines of Arkansas, Christine Chapman of Swink, and Phyllis Bates of Utah; sister-in-laws, Pam, Joyce, Sherri, & Sherry C.; grandchildren, Melinda (Steve) Kilpatrick, Christopher (Midge) Bryant, Tabitha, Travis, & Lance Bryant, Crystal (Todd) Redner, Levi (Brienne) Hansen, Hanna White, Heidi (Chad) Ricken, Brandon (Collene) Eden, Andrew (Katelyn) Foxhoven, and Jeremy (Jessica) Foxhoven; and 23 great-grandchildren
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, J.C., Albert, Gilbert, William, Billy, Raymond, Eugene, baby sister, Sue, and granddaughter, Amber Bryant.
A public viewing will be held Friday January 29, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Peacock Memorial Chapel. A celebration of life service will be Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:00 am Peacock Memorial Chapel. Graveside to follow at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
