Jeanette Patricia Snyder

January 1, 1931 — June 29, 2018

Jeanette Patricia Snyder, known to most as Pat and to family as "Granny,” was born in Sharpsdale, CO to Frederick McMahon and Helen Weiner McMahon on New Year’s Day 1931. Pat passed away Friday, June 29th surrounded by her loving family.

Pat was raised in Gardner, CO by her grandparents following the death of her parents. Her grandfather taught her to become a master carpenter. She made furniture for both family and friends and passed that trade on to children and grandchildren.

Pat married and raised her family in Pueblo Colorado. While in Pueblo, she owned and operated the Knotty Pine Woodworks Shop building custom made furniture.

In the 1970's she moved her family to Swink, CO to start Huajatolla Goat Dairy. She provided handcrafted cheese to markets in Pueblo, Denver and Boulder.

She was also a skilled seamstress and crotchetier. She loved making items for her family and friends and passed this gift on to subsequent generations.

There wasn't anything she couldn't do. In her 50s, she enrolled in nursing school. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Regis College in Denver, CO and retired from Arkansas Valley Medical Center in La Junta, CO. She was also an instructor of the nursing program at Otero Junior College in the 1980's.

Above all, her biggest gift was to never judge a soul. She accepted anyone who crossed her path without bias or prejudice.

Pat is survived by sons, Robert (JoAnne) Sisnroy of Charleston, SC; Michael (Tami) Lyons of Springfield, MO and daughters Susan (Mark) Vance of Swink, CO, Annette (Scott) Zimmer of Pueblo CO, Louisa “Lisy” Sisnroy of La Junta, CO and daughter-in-law Sharon Sisnroy of Swink, CO. She leaves 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was sadly preceded in death by her son, Fred Sisnroy.

Celebration of Pat’s life will be an informal come and go gathering Saturday, July 7th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., downstairs at the Thyme Square Building located at 302 Colorado Ave., La Junta Colorado. Bring your favorite memory of Pat.
