Jeffrey Foy Mcclelland

Jeffrey Foy McClelland, 73, of Swink, CO passed away on August 7, 2014, doing what he loved…bicycling. He was born July 27, 1941 in Castle Rock, CO to Gene and Lillian (Foy) McClelland. He married Rhonda Reese on May 27, 1966. They had one daughter, Amy.


Jeff lived in Swink all of his life attending Swink schools, graduating with the class of 1959. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. After returning to the Arkansas Valley, he continued with his employment at Nibco, Inc. for 25 years. He went on to work in Pueblo, CO for 17 years at Kurt Manufacturing. Jeff retired as a tool and die maker in January 2009.


He had an extreme passion for bicycling, hot rod cars and reading. Jeff raced motorcycles for many years and enjoyed all things sports. He was an avid supporter of Swink athletics. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. All who knew him, knew of his witty sense of humor, kind words and compassion.


Jeff is survived by his wife Rhonda of Swink; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Jerry Cordova of Falcon, CO; grandchildren Morgann, Madysen and Parker J. Cordova of Falcon; nephews Ryan (Johnnie) Echer of New Castle, CO; and Reese Houghton of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by sisters Caroyln (Jim) Rightmyer of Swink and Helen (Bob) Burkholder of Chandler, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jeff McClelland Memorial Fund, c/o of Colorado Bank and Trust, La Junta, CO 81050 so that his love of cycling can be carried on through children in the Arkansas Valley.




A celebration of his life will be held Friday, August, 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the old Swink Gym in Swink, CO. Bicycles and hot rods are welcomed!
