Jessie Lee Redd, 96, was born February 6, 1926, in Borthella, Kentucky to N.A. & Callie (Ramsey) Pryor. She graduated from the 8th grade there.
Jessie married Ralph Allen Bailey on July 24, 1943; he passed away in 1962. She married Bob Roberts in 1964; he passed away a few years later; she married the love of her life Robert Eldon Redd; he preceded her in death.
Jessie was never afraid of hard work. Throughout her life Jessie worked as a waitress, cook, worked at the turkey factory and the pickle plant, picked cotton and bar tended. To her most important job was being a mom. She attended the First Christian Church in La Junta and enjoyed crocheting baby blankets for new moms and grandparents. Most Christmas’s you could find her serving at Jay’s Dinner. Jessie loved crocheting, ceramic, an occasional trip to the casino and fishing.
She is survived by her son, James William Bailey of Owassa, OK; daughter, Debra Starr Scott Grand Junction, CO; Raymond Dean Bailey of La Junta; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, and niece, Lynn of Clarksville, IN. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Linda Toppliss, daughter Marylin Sue Green, son, Carl Roy Roberts, and the love of her life, her husband, Robert Eldon Redd.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. at the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery.
