Joe Sr. Ayala

March 4, 1924 — November 8, 2015

Joe Ayala, Sr. 91, passed away peacefully at his La Junta
home surrounded by his beloved family on November 8, 2015. He was born on March
4, 1924 in Las Animas, Colorado to Nicolas & Guadalupe (Ontiveros) Allala.
He married Virginia R. Hernandez on October 24, 1943; she preceded him in death
on February 4, 1997. 
 
He was employed as a farmer with Everette Marshal and as a
customer service rep with Gambles. He retired from Otero Junior College Child
Development Services in 1988 as a purchasing agent. He was an avid fan of the
Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and Notre Dame Football. 
 
He leaves to cherish his memories his brother, Nash Ayala
of La Junta; children, Pat Rangel of Pueblo; John Ayala of Denver; Joe Ayala,
Jr. of La Junta; Richard (Ruth) Ayala of Denver; Anthony (Rebecca) Ayala; Deb
Nicholson; Christine Moreno; Robert “Bucky” Ayala; Connie Ayala; and Joseph
(Angela) Ayala all of La Junta; 28 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and
40 great-great, grandchildren; his two lifelong friends, Del Cruz and John
Lucero. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Pete Ayala,
sister, Georgia McClain and two grandsons, George and Denny Rangel.

 

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, November 13, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. Both services at our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick's Parish. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
