John Joseph “Jack” Fazekas, 64, passed away on Feb. 8, 2012 at his La Junta home. Jack was born January 30, 1948, to George E. Fazekas, Sr. & May (Ketrow) Danko in South Bound Brook, New Jersey. Jack served during the Vietnam War as an aircraft maintenance mechanic. After serving with the Army, he was employed as a mechanic until his recent retirement. Jack was a member of the La Junta Elks Lodge #701 and the Moose Club of South Bound Brook, New Jersey. He was an avid collector of belt buckles and loved spending time “down south” in the Higbee area.Jack is survived by his mother, May (Pete) Danko, Sr.; daughters, Angela Goodwin of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Emma (John) Weigen of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jacqueline Fazekas of Somerset, New Jersey; grandchildren, Chelsea & Tristan Goodwin, Kayla Eibes, and Trinity MacManus; brothers, Peter Danko, Jr., Joe Danko both of La Junta, Eddie Fazekas of New Jersey; sisters, Karen (Terry) Menges, and Gayle (Kenny) Eveatt both of La Junta; good friend Ron Cornelius; many nieces, nephews, and friends from Colorado to New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his father, George Fazekas, Sr. and brother, George Fazekas, Jr. and by his maternal and paternal grandparents. As per Jack’s request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the La Junta Elks Lodge #701 at 11:00 a.m.
