John Joe Guerrero

Joe Guerrero, 85, of La Junta passed away on January 6, 2018 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta. He was born on November 22, 1932 in La Junta to Adolph & Manuela (Becerra) Guerrero. He married Angelina Fernandez on November 18, 1949 in La Junta; she preceded him in death on March 13, 2003.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. We will always remember all the songs he would sing at home or at parties. His favorite pastime was fishing. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Maria Guerrero of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico; Rebecca (Mike) Palacio of La Junta; Mercedes (Felix) Grajeda of La Junta; Louie (Debra) Guerrero of Rocky Ford; Jose (Emily) Guerrero of La Junta; Bernice (William) Holt of Colorado Springs; Monica (Luis) Guerrero of La Junta; Diane (Larry) Alrid of Pueblo; Ronald (Shawntee) Guerrero of Pueblo; his sister, Carmen Trantham; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Bobby; sisters, Catherine Lopez and Josie Vasquez.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at the Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Henry Wertin officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
