Jose Guadalupe Carrillo-Esparza, 76, of La Junta passed away on January 12, 2017 at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. He was born on February 12, 1940 in Durango, Mexico to Felix & Ursula (Esparza) Carrillo. He married Antonia Barela in 1960 in Juarez, Mexico; she preceded him in death in 1996.
He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Cathy Hernandez of the La Junta home; children, Sylvia Carrillo of Albuquerque, NM; Guadalupe Barraza of Albuquerque, NM; Jesse (Debbie) Carrillo of La Junta; grandchildren, Daniel Barraza, Selina Barraza, Antonio Barraza, Jr., Erika Barraza, Mariavanessa Barraza, Cindy Carrillo, Jessie Carrillo, Erik Carrillo, and Jeremy Carrillo; 15 great-grandchildren; step-children, Johnny Fernandez; Esther Fernandez, and Thomas Hernandez; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous step-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother; two sisters; grandchild, Julio Barraza; step-daughters, Crossie Aguilera; Charolette Fernandez; and nephew, Jose “Mijo” Aguilera.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. both services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta with Father Henry Wertin officiating.
