Josie Kneeland

Josie Kneeland, 74, passed away on April 12, 2015 at her Rocky Ford home. She was born on June 18, 1940 in Engleville, Colorado to Joe & Della Montoya. She married Jerry Kneeland on June 13, 1970 at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford.


Josie was a very good wife and aunt and great aunt. She liked to cook and baked very good cinnamon rolls. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She and Jerry lived 20 years in St. Louis, MO, while there she was very active in the Catholic Chapel at Our Lady of the Snows Shrines. After her husband’s retirement they moved to Rocky Ford.


She is survived by her husband, Jerry Kneeland; brother, Donald (Lucille) Montoya; sister, Alice (David) Garland, sisters-in-law, Yolanda (Jim) Killebrew and Ruth (John) Montoya, numerous nieces & nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Henry (Rose) Montoya, Julia (Ernest) Apodaca, John Montoya, Willie (Tina) Montoya, Della (Ray) Gauna, and nephews, Jesse & Albert Montoya.



Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. both services at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford with Father Paul Ekeh officiating. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford. Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
