Julian Lucero

November 30, 1945 — March 29, 2016

Julian “The Marine” Lucero, 70, passed away in his sleep on March 29, 2016 at his Cheraw home. He was born on November 30, 1945 to Arturo & Fedelina (Lopez) Lucero in Rocky Ford, Colorado.
 
He volunteered for the Marine Corp when our country made the call.  Julian served three tours of duty from 1965-67 even though his country only asked for two.  Julian received three purple hearts and many other medals and awards which he would later donate to the Vietnam War Memorial in Angel Fire, New Mexico.  He retired from Ft. Lyon VAMC in 1992.  Julian was a strong and vibrant man that loved hunting, fishing, and everything to do with the outdoors.  He was a good husband, father, and human being with the rare quality of direct honesty.  He and his laughter will forever be missed.
 
He is survived by his children, Edward (Sonya) Lucero of Little Elm, TX; Louie Lucero of Durango, CO; grandchildren, Sydney (Zac) Morrow and Alexis (Joseph) Sanchez all of Little Elm, TX; great-grandchild, Roy Morrow; five sibling also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lynn Faye Lucero; brothers, James & Art Lucero.

A memorial service be will Monday, April 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Cheraw Lake located on South 4th Street in Cheraw with Pastor Brian Hanneken of the East Holbrook Mennonite Church in Cheraw officiating with Military Honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8.
