Julio Estrada

October 15, 1931 — January 11, 2014

Julio Estrada, 82, of Swink passed away on Jan. 11 2014, at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born in a town known as Purepero, Michoacan, Mexico on October 15, 1931 to Miguel & Micaela (Carranza) Estrada.


Julio spent most of his life working as a well-known barber, beginning his practice right in his home town. At a young age he migrated over to the State of California and continued his life as a barber. During this journey, he traveled to various states and worked as far as Tennessee. Julio eventually found his way to Colorado where his children were introduced to a lifetime of working for Hanagan Farms. Julio’s three older children devoted almost their entire life at the farm. Julio and his wife resided in the small town of Swink where most of his family still lives today.


Julio is survived by his loving wife, six children, and 23 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He spent his life caring and loving his family and being the wonderful man he was brought here to be.


Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass will be Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Matthew Wertin officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from Noon to 4:30 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home and Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
