Justin Jay Martin

Justin Jay Martin, 55, of La Junta, Colorado passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Memorial Central Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born Tuesday, October 22, 1968, in La Junta to Gail & Sharon Martin. 

As a very young boy, Jay developed a love for riding dirt bikes. He became quite accomplished at it, even being sponsored by Kawasaki for a portion of his career. On one trip back home to Colorado from California one of his boys’ favorite thing to do was to ride on the track that Jay built in our back pasture. He was so very proud of the love and enjoyment of the sport that he loved also.

Justin is survived by his wife Brenda Martin of Eastvale, CA; children, Andrew Jongeneel of Chicago, IL; Nicholas (Diana) Jongeneel of Eastvale, CA; Steven Martin of Eastvale, CA; and Emily Martin of Eastvale, CA; parents, Gail & Barbara Martin of La Junta, CO; siblings, Robert (Stefanie) Martin of Fowler, CO; and Letti (Steve Walker) of La Junta, CO; nieces, Hannah (Michael Hernandez) Martin, Claireanna Martin, Megan (Scott) Wiker, and Ashley Yergert; nephew, Trevor Jay Bishop; and great-nephew, Tavis Hernandez. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Martin; and his sister Paula Bishop. 

Celebration of Justin’s life will be held in December of 2024 at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta. Date and time still to be decided at this time and will be updated soon.
