Kathleen Mae Vargo

Kathleen M. Vargo, 88, passed away on March 28th, 2015 in Pueblo, Colorado.  She was born in La Junta, Colorado, to Virginia and Joe Sciumbato on March 16, 1927. 
 
She graduated from La Junta High School class of 1945. Kathleen enjoyed dances at the Army/Air Force Base and at the Holbrook Pavilion during the war. Kathleen worked as a telephone operator and met and married Nick Vargo, and raised four children. Kathleen retired from her job as a bookkeeper at Gibson’s Discount Center. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline Singers, an active member of the Democratic Party, enjoyed bowling and bingo. Kathleen loved to travel and spend time with her family. She was fun-loving and generous in spirit. Kathleen was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. 
 
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Don) Comstock, Patty (Pat) McGee, Joanne (Dave Poulin) Vargo; grandchildren, Tonia (Sean) Burnett, Jared (Cindy) McGee; and great-grandchildren, Christian Burnett, Joslyn Burnett, Mason McGee and Hayden McGee. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Joseph Sciumbato Jr., and her son, Nicholas Vargo Jr. 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sangre De Cristo Hospice, Pueblo direct or through the funeral home.
 
 

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Tom Dudley of the Cheraw United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
