Kathy Ann Torrez, 59, of La Junta, CO passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at Bent County Health Care Center. She was born December 7, 1964 in La Junta to Alvaro & Estella (Chavez) Torrez.

Kathy was a very hard worker. She worked as a waitress for many years at Hogs Breath Saloon, now known as Boss Hogs. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, daughter, extended family, and friends. She especially loved watching football & was a Denver Bronco fan. We got to enjoy our last Bronco - Raider game with her last month in January, 2024.

Kathy loved cooking & she was one of the best we knew. I’m going to miss some of my favorite dishes from her. She loved to shop every time we came down to visit. It was tradition to go out to eat at her favorite restaurant, Red Lobster, and go shopping.

Most importantly she had a heart of gold. She loved and cared for everyone. Just a beautiful soul inside and out. She will be missed by so many; she left us with enough memories to last a lifetime!

Kathy is survived by her daughter Danette (Carlos) Larios of San Diego, CA; granddaughter, Alana Danielle; grandson, Daniel Ray; best friend & significant other, Ruben Bacerra of La Junta, CO; mother, Stella Torrez of Ordway, CO; four brothers & a sister; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Alvaro Torrez; two sisters & three brothers.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, February 23, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. followed by Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. Both services held at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
