Keith R. Wynne

Keith Rowland Wynne, 64, passed away June 23, 2014, in Sun City West, Arizona, after a courageous fight against cancer.


Keith was born January 15, 1950, in La Junta, to A.G. and Edna Lorene (Rowland) Wynne. He attended school in La Junta, graduating from La Junta High School with the class of 1968. Keith also attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1963 at the time the Koshare’s were celebrating their 30th anniversary.


Keith married Christine Carson in April 1971. They resided in La Junta until 1998 when they moved to Arizona where he continued his career with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.


He retired from the BNSF in 2007 after 30 years of service. Keith will be remembered for his love of golf and his long association with the La Junta Golf Club, as well as his involvement with La Junta’s youth sports.


He is survived by his wife Christine; daughter, Kerri (Barrett) Bender; son, Jacob (Naomi) Wynne; and daughter, Tara (Brent) White; grandchildren, Kayci & Dax Bender, Ryker & Kynlee White, and Jeremiah & Jaisa Ramirez; and his cousin, Cheryl (Crosson) Hellmann who was raised with Keith in the family home.


He was preceded in death by his infant son, Zachary, his parents, and brother, A.G. Wynne, Jr.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Koshare Indian Museum, P.O. Box 580, La Junta, or the La Junta Booster Club, c/o La Junta High School, 1817 Smithland Avenue, La Junta.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


Graveside memorial service will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
