Kenneth Ray Brumit

November 1, 1946 — May 2, 2020

Kenneth Brumit, a rancher, publisher and entrepreneur went to meet his Heavenly Father on May 2, 2020 at the age of 73 after complications from a massive stroke.

Ken was born in La Junta, Colorado on November 1st, 1946 to very loving parents, Mike and Lorene Brumit. Ken was raised in North La Junta where he enjoyed hunting, shooting, fixing up and racing cars. Ken was a standout athlete receiving many accolades in several sports. Ken received a football scholarship to Western State University where he lettered all 4 years, and graduated in 1969 with a Business Degree. After graduating from college Ken returned to La Junta where he gave back to his local community and taught and coached football at the local High School.

Ken felt a calling to serve in the United States Army where he finished basic training at the top of his class and received the honor of top soldier at Fort Lewis in Washington; he was stationed in Baumholder, Germany and was assigned to serve as a teacher/instructor for forward observers.

Ken truly lived an adventurous and full life, he was very giving and generous, and always willing to help others when they needed it. He loved sharing God's message of salvation whenever he could. Ken had a plethora of favorite restaurants he loved to patronize; he was always recognized, greeted and treated as a friend as soon as he walked in the door. Ken enjoyed road trips, and had a deep love for animals.

Ken is survived by his son, Scott Brumit; daughters, Candice Brumit, Elizabeth Barteau, Paula Barteau; his grandchildren, Tiffany Engelhardt, Amanda Stalnaker, Jennifer Ibarra, Kyle Brumit; his great-grandchildren, Emalynn Brumit, Braelyn Stalnaker, Maverick Ibarra, Lyla Engelhardt; his siblings, Milan Brumit, Jerry Brumit, Patti Nimmo. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Ken will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Graveside service to honor Ken will be Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in La Junta with Pastor John Dell of the First Christian Church officiating.
