Kenneth Roland Alfrey, 79, of Rocky Ford, Colorado passed away of January 15, 2024, at his Rocky Ford Home. He was born on July 22, 1944, in Lamar, Colorado to Lewis Allen and June Elizabeth (Brooks) Alfrey. Kenneth “Ken” grew up on the family farm in Vilas, Colorado and attended school in Vilas. He grew up with three brothers: Vance, Gary and WyNeal.
Ken married Sharon Allmendinger on September 5, 1965. They were blessed with two daughters: Tammy and Teresa. Ken loved to ride horses, fish for brookies and watch his grandkids activities. Ken knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior and we rejoice as he walks with Jesus. Ken, also known as “Papa”, was cherished by his grandkids and great grand kids and they shared his love for riding horses.
Ken is survived by his second wife, Dianne Alfrey; daughters, Tammy (Marvin) Schlegel and Teresa (Keith) Reynolds; grandkids, Cassie Wyckoff, Patrick Wyckoff, Cody Rogers, Dustin (Sarah) Reynolds, and Brianna (Bobby) Martin; six great-grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis & June Alfrey; his first wife, Sharon, and brother, Gary Alfrey.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Vilas School Gym, located at, 202 South Collingwood; Vilas, CO 81087 with Pastor Gail Allen of the Cowboy Church officiating.
Those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation in lieu of flowers to Ark Valley Hospice, 531 Lewis Ave, La Junta, Colorado or to Cowboy Valley Church 26910 Hwy 109, La Junta, Colorado, direct of through the funeral home.
