Kristin Sue Kadlecek, 47, of La Junta, CO, passed away December 18, 2024, in Pueblo, CO. Kristin was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on March 13, 1977, to Ted & Lisa (Homewood) Kadlecek.
In 1977 her family moved to Sidney, NE where she attended elementary school. In 1989 the family moved to Rocky Ford, CO. She attended Manzanola Junior and Senior High school. Kristin graduated in 1995. She attended Otero Junior College and graduated with a degree in childcare, then finished at Adams State earning a business degree. After graduation she taught at Child Development Services. The next stop in her career was 2 years at a child day care center in Colorado Springs. Her next stop was opening a new day care center in Granby, Colorado where she taught pre-school and managed the day care center. In 2010 she moved back to LaJunta taking a job with the Otero County social services where she fostered 3 children and ended up adopting Austin James and Ericka Shea.
Kristin's big love was working with and for children. Kristin played basketball and volleyball in high school and was selected for all-state volleyball. She is also a member Mother Mick, Bethel 25 of the International Order of Job's Daughters. She loved coaching kids' basketball, baseball, and volleyball.
Kristin is survived by her two children, Austin and Ericka; parents, Ted & Lisa Kadlecek; brother, Scott of Rocky Ford, sister and brother-in-law, Sheri & Jon Hewitt, nephew, Kade; and niece, Korianna, all from Keller, Texas; and uncle, Craig Homewood of Choctaw, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ted & Mildred Kadlecek & John and Charlotte Homewood; aunt and uncle, James & Susan Allen.
