Lawrence Jay Rhodes

Lawrence “Jay” Rhodes, 54, of Swink, passed away on June 1, 2014 at the St. Mary Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo. He was born on August 14, 1959, in La Junta, Colorado to Leland & Evelyn (Reynolds) Rhodes. He married Sheila King on December 27, 1991; she preceded him in death on May 28, 2009.
 
Jay worked with his father Leland in the Custom Farming Business. He enjoyed raising Angus cattle until his health made this impossible for him to continue doing.
 
He is survived by his sister, Susan (Tom) Schrock of Swink; daughters, Ashley (Senech) Fletcher of Pueblo West, Kara King of Swink; grandchildren, Gage, Riley, and Makayla all of Pueblo West; Kameron and Breianna of Swink; nephews & nieces, Justin (Shaunna) Schrock and children, Kyle, Cody, and Sari all of Swink; Chad (Heather) Schrock and children, Sydney, Maverick and McKinley all of Littleton, CO; Kassie (Mike) Martin and children, Brenton, Keegan, and Aislynn all of Swink; Tyler Rhodes of Florence, CO; Ethan and Kaylee Rhodes of La Junta; uncles and aunts, Bill (Glenda) Reynolds of Arvada, CO and Elmer Reynolds of Greeley, CO; several cousins also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Gary Rhodes and his paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.
 
Those wishing to make memorial contributions may make to a local 4-H group direct or through the funeral home.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Daniel Fiester of the Valley Community Church officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery Columbarium.
