Lenna Faye Carter

July 28, 1943 — March 17, 2013

Lenna F. (Mattics) Carter, 69, passed away on Mar 17, 2013 at the Villa Pueblo in Pueblo, Colorado. She was born in La Junta, Colorado, on July 28, 1943, to William Earl and Virginia Hazel Mattics. Lenna was the third youngest child of 11 children in her family.
Her marriage to Gerald Leroy Carter was in Pueblo, Colorado; he preceded her in death on November 14, 2012. They made their home in Pueblo, CO for the last several years. Lenna enjoyed collecting antiques which her husband helped to restore to their original beauty.
Lenna Faye enjoyed passing her childhood playtime making paper and cloths pins dolls with her sisters and mother. Her oldest brother Bill recalled his favorite moment with Lenna was when she had blown up the biggest bubble from her bubble gum over all the other sisters. Bill reported gleefully as he popped the huge bubble which stuck in Lenna’s hair and eyelashes as being one the funniest moments he remembered. Her youngest sister Neva remembers her for her strength and her willingness to stand up for what she believed in. Neva remembered her sister as always being quiet and reserved but loved playing baseball when waiting on the sidelines to play she balanced her foot on the calf of the other leg leaving her perched on one leg. Lenna loved science, singing duets or solos, and artwork drawings. In her early working years her employers would always praise Lenna for her honest and dedicated work. Once Neva recalled when they saw Lenna dress up for work, she complimented her on how nice she looked and Lenna replied with her silly little wry grin she had that her daughter Sharon was the one who took her shopping and coordinated her clothing which was why she looked so nice all the time. Whenever Lenna spoke of her children she always wore that silly wry grin as she spoke of how intelligent all her children were at their studies. Lenna acknowledged her sons being accepted to attend the Colorado School of Mines and then later join the military to serve their country needs in Desert Storm. Lenna always recognized her daughter Sharon and her son-in-law being actively involved in their business and traveling often. There are so many memories for many of the different siblings that all can’t be shared.
Lenna is survived by her children, Sharon Ann (Ed) Eckley, Gerald Lee “Jerry” (Lolene) Carter, Terry Wayne (Dawn) Carter; grandchildren,  Rock Carter, Justin Carter, Elizabeth Carter; step- grandchildren;  Cameron, Devon; siblings,  Clara Scherer, Henrietta Huddleston, Carolyn Tomko, Rebecca Farell, and Neva Arosgtegui.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, William L., Dudley Earl, Betty Jean, Robert Benjamin Mattics and infant sister at birth.
Lenna spent the last several years suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and she was quickly removed from all of us by this terrible thing.
She is now at peace in the reunion of her loved ones awaiting her arrival in heaven.
