Leonard Wayne Hartless

Leonard Wayne “Festus” Hartless, 90, passed away on June 30, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Wayne was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on July 19, 1926 to William Ward and Mable Magdaline Hartless. He married Shirley Ann Carrica on October 21, 1958. He was a truck driver for 55 years and a longtime resident of La Junta. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1952. Wayne was a devoted father, grand father, great-grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his children, Thomas Wayne (Elizabeth) Hartless of Fowler, William Ward (Christie) Hartless of La Junta, James Leonard Hartless of Ulysses, KS, and Kelly Faye (Ron) Meier of La Junta; grandchildren, Abbey Hartless, Shelby Hartless, Justin (Sunny) Hartless, Geoffery Hartless, Samantha Lewis, Nicole (Dimitri Romero) Lewis, Brianna Hartless, Kimber Hartless, Sarah Hartless; great-grandchildren, Tristan & Nancy Hartless, Dimitri, Jr. & Ariella Romero, Jaysen Lewis, and Rowdie & Jyntrie Ratley.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann Hartless and his son John Michael “Tiny” Hartless.

Memorial graveside service be held on July 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery.
