Lester Eugene Hasty, Sr., 84, of La Junta passed away on October 2, 2014 at the Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford. He was born in La Junta on March 19, 1930 to Charles E. & Julia (Becker) Hasty. He grew up on a ranch near Villagreen, Colorado.


Lester completed his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming, he taught school in Kim, Colorado and then La Junta, Colorado. He began a 20 year second career as an Engineer with the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and a life member of the Elks.


He is survived by his wife, Jeannie of the La Junta home; son, Lester Eugene (Shirley) Hasty, Jr. of Wray, CO; sister, Leona (Charles) Hudson of Dahlonega, GA; step-daughters, Linda Fara of Fountain Hills, AZ and Marilyn Stangl of Penrose, CO; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one step-grandchild; six step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great, great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles E., Jr., Lloyd W., Franklin O. Hasty, and former wives, Ruth Hasty and Marcie Hasty.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.



Memorial service will be Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Gordon Smith of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating.
