Lloyd Frederick Mueller, Sr., 88, of La Junta passed away on July 16, 2022, at the Bent County Healthcare Center in Las Animas. He was born on August 8, 1933, to Frederick & Margaret (Lampe) Mueller in Spearville, KS. He married Judith A. Wright on October 25, 1958; she preceded him in death on April 3, 1996.
He graduated from Dodge City High School in 1953. He worked laying cement with his dad and helping doing farm work before he went to the Army, in 1954 – 1956 as a Paratrooper 82nd airborne at Ft. Bragg, NC.
He went to work for the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad in 1957 until 1988. He lived in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Pueblo and La Junta. He settled in La Junta in 1965. He drove the special needs bus for La Junta Schools and drove the Swink Activity and Route Bus, retiring in May of 2019. During the summers he harvested for longtime friends in and around Dodge City, KS.
Lloyd enjoyed gardening, camping, woodworking and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always willing to help others. He was a member of the La Junta Jaycees, a life member of the La Junta Elks #701 and the Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish from 1960 until 2022.
He is survived by his children, Tammy (Gail) Evett of La Junta; Buddy (Karey) Mueller of La Junta; Rocky (Brenda) Mueller of Swink; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Esther Mueller; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings, John Mueller, Robert Mueller, Mary Harper, Anita McGonigle; brother-in-law's, Carl McGonigle and Leroy Harper; sister-in-law, Wilda Mueller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Joseph Matitu officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 25, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
