Lois Jean Holter

April 13, 1934 — March 7, 2014

Lois Jean Holter, of Cheraw, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, at the age of 79. She was born April 13, 1934, in Hunter, KS, to Emmett Rush Henney and Ruth (Gallion) Henney.

Lois graduated from Eads High School and married the love of her life, Howard Holter, on June 2, 1951. Howard preceded her in death on February 17, 2011. Lois worked for many years for Dr. J. Alan Shand and Dr. Richard Shand, a job she loved very much. She had been a member of the First Church of God in Rocky Ford for over 50 years, serving in different positions from teaching Sunday School to serving on various boards. Lois enjoyed spending time working in the garden with Howard, even though she had the added load of canning and freezing the fruits of their labor, which was always a lot! Howard and Lois both enjoyed traveling, in their retirement years did a lot of traveling to Blue Grass Festivals, and made many memories with their yearly Camping trips with Megan and Cameron to the Sand Dunes.

Lois is survived by daughters, Janet Schiro of La Junta and Julie Holter of Pueblo; grandchildren, Megan Schiro of La Junta, Cameron Schiro of Pueblo, Amanda (Alan) Flageolle of Denver, Jessica Lee of Utah and Jennifer Holter of Utah; great-grandsons, Jacob, Andrew, Taylor and Rylund; sisters-in-law, Ethel Oquist of La Junta, Marybeth Holter of Colorado Springs and Nadine Holter of Fort Collins; brothers-in-law, George (Gloria) Holter of Fort Collins and John Holter of Colorado Springs and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bernie, loving husband of 59 years, Howard, son, John, sister-in-law, Faye Patterson, and brothers-in-law Henry Holter and Lee Holter.
