Lois Lloyd, 98, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. She was born on September 29, 1913 in La Junta, Colorado to John Holmes & Adell Thornley (Bush) Simonton. She married Claude Lloyd on July 31. 1931 in La Junta; he preceded her in death on January 15, 1967.
Lois was an Avon sales rep for 40 years and she also was a cook with the La Junta High School during 1967 until 1983.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Bradfield of La Junta; son, Ralph (Karen) Thornton of Oak Harbor, WA; grandchildren, Valerie (John) Gonzales, Tim Fellhauer, Nancy (Les) Reichert, Tracey Clark, Stacey (Vince) Schauer, Russell Thornton, and Kevin Thornton; ten great-grandchildren and seven great, great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children, Laverne Fellhauer, Barbara Petramala, and C. Norman Lloyd; grandchildren, Lloyd & Mark Petramala; three sisters and one brother.
In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the Meals on Wheels, PO Box 793, Rocky Ford, CO, 81067 or to the Koshare Indian Museum, PO Box, 580, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through the funeral home.
Funeral service will be Monday, June 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Albright of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
