Lucy Valdiviez

Lucy Valdiviez, 91 of La Junta passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center.  Lucy was born on April 9, 1921, in Cimarron, New Mexico to Cleofus & Leondra (Montano) Gonzales. She married Vincente Valdiviez on March 7, 1966 in La Junta, Colorado; he preceded her in death on January 23, 1995. 

Lucy worked as a waitress at Potty’s Restaurant for many years. She also was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish.  She enjoyed being with her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Grace) Gomez of LaHabra, California; daughter, Mary Lee Jacquez of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Christopher, Cynthia, Debbie, Terri, and Kim; numerous great-grandchildren also survive.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and one brother.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


Funeral Mass will be Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating.  Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
