Mabel Sciumbato

August 7, 1927 — July 21, 2014

Mabel Nancy Sciumbato went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2014. She was born on August 7, 1927, in Shickley, Nebraska, and was the youngest of five children born to Lulu (Birky) and Daniel Boshart.


The family moved to Colorado and Mabel attended school in Thurman. They later moved to Cheraw. She was employed by Farmland Industries, and later by La Junta Medical Center. On May 15, 1953, she married George Sciumbato and moved to La Junta. He preceded her in death in 1974. Mabel married Sylvan Sciumbato on June 5, 1977. He preceded her in death in 2002.


Mabel is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Mike) Fazio and Mary Ann (Bob) Rusler; three grandchildren, Nicole (Adam) Trainor, Jason Fazio, and Justin Gordon; two great-grandchildren, Ava Trainor and Gavin Trainor. She is also survived by three step-grandchildren, Sara Rusler, Bart (Danielle) Rusler, and Brett Rusler and one step great-granddaughter, Alexa Rusler; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Elizabeth Bangert, Mary, Elmer, and Lee Boshart.


Memorial contributions may be made to Fowler Health Care Center, 221 2nd Street, Fowler, CO, 81039  or to a charity of choice direct or through the funeral home.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home and Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


Mabel was a member of Crossroads Church in Swink. Funeral service will be held there on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 28, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta.
