Margaret Ann Schultz

Margaret Schultz, 82, of La Junta, passed away on May 11, 2013 at Evergreen Gardens in La Junta, CO. Margaret was born on September 24, 1930 in Cheraw, CO to Harry and Doris (McGee) Hansen. She attended school in Cheraw.

Margaret married Dallas Schultz of Cheraw on July 21, 1946; he preceded her in death on April 21, 2012. From 1946 to 1996 they farmed and ranched in the Cheraw area. Margaret was a devoted wife and mother. She was employed at J. C. Penny in La Junta for a number of years. She loved being very active in the Cheraw and La Junta Methodist churches especially the rummage sales and Grandma's Attic.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Dale (Melba) Schultz of La Junta, Wayne (Janice) Schultz of Lamar, Claude (Joy) Schultz of Wiley; sister, Betty Hanson of Eagle River, AK; brothers, John (Carol) Hansen of Pearcy, AR, Don Hansen of Rocky Ford; sister-in-laws, Carol Lee of Chico, CA and Stella Miller of Longmont, CO; seven grandchildren, Anson (Angela) Schultz, Eric (Kim) Schultz, Dana Schultz, Destin (Ed) Fisher, Jeff (Bethany) Schultz, Andrea Schultz and Ashley Schultz; ten great-grandchildren, Victoria, Anson, Mariah, Angelayna, Cole, Jett, Reagan, Devlynn, Anthony, Veronica; and fourteen nieces & nephews. Preceded in death are her parents and a niece, Dorothy Hanson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cheraw or La Junta Methodist Church, or Arkansas Valley Hospice Assoc.

Peacock-Larsen & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


A memorial service will be Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of La Junta with Reverend Terilynn Russ and Reverend Tom Dudley officiating. A graveside inurnment service will be at 10:00 a.m, on Saturday at Fairview Cemetery prior to the service.
