Margaret Ellen Mccray

January 6, 1923 — December 30, 2014

Margaret Ellen McCray, 91, passed away on December 30th, 2014, at Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford, CO. Services will be held at the Peacock Larsen Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm. A private burial will take place at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.


Margaret was born on January 6th, 1923, in Rocky Ford, CO, the second of eight children of William Franklin Norris and Daisy Myrtle Norris. She graduated from Swink High School in 1940. She was married to Harold Cecil “Bud” McCray on December 13, 1941 in Raton, NM, and she was the mother of four sons: Ronald, Harold, Robert, and Thomas.


During WWII, Margaret worked in an airplane factory in southern California. After the war, she was a homemaker in La Junta. From 1965 to 1995, she worked in food preparation services for La Junta Public Schools.


Margaret is survived by sons Harold Lee (Sandy) McCray of Monument, CO, and Thomas Ray (Amy) McCray of Walsenburg, CO; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister Helen Elizabeth “Betty” Bunch; and brothers Clarence “Buster” Norris and Delbert Norris.


She was preceded in death by husband Harold Cecil “Bud” McCray; sons Ronald Dean McCray and Robert Dale McCray; sisters Aurie Mae Shepard, Vivian Brittain, and Janet Critchfield; and brothers William “Red” Norris and Gene Norris.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


 
 
 
 
 
 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gail Allen of the Cowboy Church officiating. A private burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
