Marjorie Jean Thompson

September 14, 1927 — February 24, 2014

Marjorie "Jean" Thompson, 86, passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 24, 2014, at her son's home in La Junta, Colorado. Jean was born Sept. 14, 1927 to Russell and Myrtell Jenkins in Charleston, Illinois.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Orville, of 54 years, her son, David Thompson, sisters, Mary Franklin and Patty Agans. She is survived by her son, Rod (Ruth Ann) Thompson of La Junta; grandchildren, Nicholas Thompson of Nashville, Tenn, Kyla Carter of Nashville, and Jennifer Harrington of Kansas, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, Dane, Shelby, Logan, and Lillian.


Jean worked for the food service department for the Mattoon School District for most of her adult life and Camp New Hope during the summers.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your local Hospice in Jean's name.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


There will be a private viewing, Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home and laid to rest beside her husband at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m.
