Marleen L. Vickroy

Marleen Louise Hicks Vickroy, 61, of La Junta passed away on October 6, 2014 at the Pavilion at Villa Pueblo. She was born in La Junta on July 20, 1953 to Charles W. & Eva L. (Gribble) Hicks.
 
Marleen attended school in Las Animas from grade school though high school. She was a Registered Nurse and worked at the F. Lyon V.A. Medical Center from 1983 until it closed and she also worked at the V.A. clinic in Pueblo.
 
Marleen married Roger Vickroy on October 26, 1974 in La Junta. Marleen and Roger had on son, Mickey Lee Vickroy, whom she cherished with all her heart. She loved music, and playing the piano, and she played the guitar beautifully. She loved animals and cared for many beloved pets throughout her life. Most of all she loved spending time with her family playing games and laughing. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
 
She is survived by her son, Mickey (Emily) Vickroy, mother & stepfather, Eva (Lee) Keller, brother, Stan “Buster” Hicks, sisters, Becky Ann Hicks and Goldie (Stan) Austin, nieces, Jean (Geoff) Goheen and Lauren Kenner, great nephews, Samuel & Mykale Goheen, and many aunts and uncles also survive. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles W. Hicks.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gordon Smith of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
