Marsha Monean Jacquart

October 16, 1942 — February 19, 2023

Marsha Monean Jacquart, 80, of La Junta, Colorado, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, surrounded by family.

Marsha was born on October 16, 1942, to Yvonne & Guy Rorick in Syracuse, Kansas. She was a cheerleader in high school along with being an active member of choir and a drum major. She attended many state competitions and received several awards for her accomplishments. Marsha graduated as valedictorian from Johnson High School in 1960. While in high school, Marsha first met Robin at a track meet. They were married on September 1, 1961.

Marsha was a wonderful homemaker. She and Robin resided on the farmstead in Sublette, KS for many years, raising their five children who were the priority of her life. Later, they relocated to Fowler, CO, then further west to the La Veta area. After Robin’s health took a turn, they moved to the Higbee area of La Junta. After the loss of Robin, Marsha moved closer to town to be near family.

Second to her children & grandchildren was her unbridled passion for horses. She was an avid barrel racer and cofounder of Harmony Barrel Racing. She instilled the love of horses in her grandchildren and supported them in 4-H and Cactus Kids competitions. Marsha loved every minute of the time she spent travelling to the variety of venues that either she or her grandchildren competed in.

Marsha was a master seamstress and crafter. From making her children’s clothing when they were younger to creating quilts and adorable horses, her hands and eyes worked magically! She was a sports fan, and particularly enjoyed watching the games her children and grandchildren participated in as well as college basketball games on television. She also enjoyed watching classic western movies in her spare time.

Marsha was a joyful presence and made an impact on so many people. She worked tirelessly hosting numerous family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The handmade foods that she prepared were favorites that we all looked forward to. The memories made and time spent together will forever be cherished. She loved her friends and family and filled her home with warmth and kindness. We will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her children, Rollie (Gina) Jacquart of Rocky Ford; Ragan (Jane) Jacquart of La Veta, CO; Clint Jacquart of Swink; Kristi (Myron) Brown of Logan, KS and Kerri Wyatt of Pueblo; grandchildren, Malachi, Madeline and Zebulon Jacquart; Conrad and Kacie Jacquart; Sage and Payson Maydew; Tanner Thompson; Cole and Brett Finegan; Megan, Cashly, Luke and Tacy Jacquart; great-grandchildren, Landon Jacquart, Sadie Jacquart and Willow Maydew; siblings, Sally Martin, Shawn Brack and Shane Rorick; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robin Jacquart and brother, Gary Rorick.
