Martha Helen Argo, 90, of Fowler, passed away on June 24, 2021 at the Crowley County Nursing Home in Ordway. Helen was born on February 13, 1931 in Manzanola and graduated high school from there too. Helen married William Jerome Argo shortly after graduation; he preceded her in death.
Helen worked in the home and the yard raising a family in the farming community of Fowler after living a few years in Leadville where Bill worked in the mines. She loved her flower garden and passersby would stop and ask to take pictures. She was a fantastic cook and loved pleasing her family with many Deutsche dishes. Something that was known about Helen is that when she called your name and followed up with German language, you were more than likely in trouble. She was a member of the Democratic Party and was a community supporter of it. She helped at many elections being a present figure for the Party.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelly Argo Sigler and Christine Argo Smith; grandchildren, Christine Hemphill O’Berto, Dianna Hemphill O’Byrne, Wade Sigler, Elisabeth Sigler Campbell and Benjamin Sigler; great-grandsons, Cade O’Berto and Harrison O’Byrne. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Don William Argo and daughter, Debbie Argo Hemphill.
A graveside service will be held on June 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fowler Cemetery with BJ Ballard officiating.
