Mary Ann Barrett

Mary Ann Barrett, 69, passed away January 28, 2014 at her La Junta home. She was born on April 9, 1944 in Delta, Colorado to Carl & Josephine (Gonzales) Trujillo.


Mary resided in Trinidad for many years then she married Ralph Colangelo in 1957 and they moved to Denver where they raised their five children. She then moved to Riverside, California where she married Vernon Barrett, Sr. in 1976 and they had one son. They later moved to Ft. Morgan, CO in 1991 and then in 1992 they moved to La Junta where she spent the rest of her years.


Mary enjoyed going to yard sales, spending time and caring for her grandchildren. She loved to take road trips and traveling often with many people. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.


She is survived by her children, Margie Colangelo of Fountain, CO; Ralph “Junior” Colangelo of Kansas; Daniel “Randy” Colangelo of La Junta; Marla Hensley of Idaho; Melissa Colangelo of La Junta; Vernon Barrett, Jr. of La Junta; Siblings, Carl, Mike, and Larry Trujillo, and Bernice (Ferman) Whatley; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Steven and Daniel Trujillo; and sister, Carmen Armijo.

Memorial service will be Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 1:00 p.m., at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
