Mary Jane Crow

August 16, 1944 — August 21, 2013

Mary Jane Crow, 69, passed away on August 21, 2013 at her Rocky Ford home. She was born August 16, 1944 to Garlin and Florence (Haberman) Herron in La Junta, Colorado. 
She graduated from La Junta High School in 1962 and received her BS in Biological Science and AAS in Agriculture from USC, Pueblo in 1975. She taught Science from 1976-1991 at Rocky Ford High School, Rocky Ford Middle School, Manzanola School District and in Eldon, Mo.  She was rehired with the Rocky Ford Middle and High School System in 2006.  She loved all her students as if they were her grandkids and always stressed honesty and integrity to them.
Jane lived a very adventurous life.  She learned to fly an airplane at the La Junta airport.  She also worked the western movie sets in Santa Fe working with the horses where she met John Wayne.
She left the teaching profession for several years and was a self-taught antique expert. 
Jane was an avid horsewoman and loved to ‘run the barrel’ where she had many good times, made many friends and won several saddles, belt buckles and other prizes.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack, sister Jean Monroe and son Richard Kelley Crow.  She is survived by her husband, Tim of 32 years.

As Jane wished her services to be casual. Graveside service will be Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rocky Ford Cemetery.
