Mary L. Martin

Mary L. Martin, 92, passed away April 6, 2014 at the Evergreen Gardens Assisted Living Center in La Junta, Colorado. She was born on March 26, 1922 Sedan, New Mexico to W. Firman & Maude (Campbell) Pogue.


She graduated from Clayton, New Mexico high school in 1940. She married Ernest Martin on May 17, 1941 in Clayton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on November 21, 1994.


Mary took pride in being a homemaker where she shared her love of cooking and the beauty of prairie windmills.


Mary is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Ronnie) Fenter of La Junta, Colorado and Barbara (Al) Fortener of Snohomish, WA; sons, Russell (Susie Isbell) Martin of Swink, Colorado and William (Karel) Martin of Arvada, Colorado; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Lawrence, Warren, and Leonard Pogue.

A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Mike Taylor of the First Southern Baptist Church officiating.
