Maryann Sivertson

June 4, 1944 — May 16, 2015

Maryann "Panda" Morris Sivertson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday May 16, 2015 after a massive stroke.

She had recently moved to Colorado from El Mirage, Arizona. Maryann was originally from Wilmington, Delaware and was a 1961 graduate of Wilmington High School. She got a degree in nursing and worked as both a substitute and private doctor's office nurse. She married Rodney Sivertson on December 6, 1986 and afterwards they moved to Anderson and Redding California, Laurel and Wakefield Nebraska, Sioux City and finally Cushing Iowa, where they purchased a home. In addition to nursing, she also worked as an apartment manager, did several jobs for the church, and was a cashier at various places, including Wal-Mart.

Maryann caught the "teaching bug" from friend Peg Hart in the 90's and began a degree in Education at the University of Toledo. In 1999 she completed her bachelors at Grace University, despite the commute, just before a last move to Arizona, for Rodney's health and better teaching opportunities. She took many long- and short-term substitute teaching positions for Arizona school systems. At 59, she received her master's in Special Education from the University of Phoenix in 2003.

Maryann helped raise her godson Nolan, volunteered and assisted many friends across the country. She enjoyed travel, bingo and was active on the internet as well as in Christian communities. She and Joy had found renewed faith among the Faith Assembly of God church.

She is survived by beloved friend/caregiver Joycelyn Gribble, friend and ex-husband Rodney Sivertson, brother Joe (Ann) Morris , sister Martha Morris Garcia, niece Debra Hatfield, niece Jackie Moore, godson Nolan Lewis, several great-nephews and nieces; and her "babies," Chihuahuas Cocoa Bear and Running Bear.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 22, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Faith Assembly of God Church in Rocky Ford, Colorado.
