Micaela G. Lucero, 85, of La Junta, passed away on November 30, 2014 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. She was born to Hilario & Juanita (Ortiz) Gonzales on May 8, 1929 in Delta, Colorado. She married Joe E. Lucero on November 18, 1987 in La Junta, Colorado; he preceded her in death on August 21, 2009.
She is survived by her beloved son, Tony Ruiz of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Mickey Kaubike, Salvador Ruiz, sisters, Angelina Trujillo of Alabama; Terry Gonzales of Denver; Alejandra (Robert) Aldred-Adams of La Junta; Gloria (Ruben) Florez of Denver; Connie Vigil of Westminster; Mary Helen Gonzales of La Junta; brothers, Joe (Gloria) Gonzales of Tucson, AZ; Jesus Gonzales of Denver; also survived by her extended family, Bud (Ginger) Ozzello. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Adolph Ruiz, sisters, Frances (Guadalupe) Munoz, Guadalupe (Gribble) Herrera, Ramona (Francisco) Rocha, brothers, Antonio, Alcario “Carl”, Gregory, Adelaido “Eli”, Francisco, Emilo Gonzales.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. and funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Matthew Wertin officiating. Visitation will be Monday, December 8, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow services at noon at Ft. Lyon National Cemetery.
