Michelle Lee Wheeler

Michelle Lee Wheeler, born on December 16, 1970, in Rocky Ford, CO to Larry & Cheryl (Michelsen) Warren, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2024, in Colorado Springs, CO. Michelle was a beacon of kindness and warmth, illuminating the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A dedicated registered nurse, Michelle devoted much of her professional life to serving in nursing homes and hospice care, a calling she cherished deeply. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering dedication to her patients were a testament to her captivating personality. Described as always smiling and friendly, Michelle had a wonderful sense of humor that effortlessly endeared her to family, friends, and colleagues alike.

Having graduated from Springfield High School, Michelle pursued higher education and earned an associate's degree in nursing. This accomplishment paved the way for a career marked by compassion and a profound commitment to helping others—a reflection of her loving character. Being a hospice nurse, was her favorite time of her nursing career. She and Scott met in 1986 while out with some mutual friends and were later married in 1989 in Springfield. Michelle's role as a mother was among her proudest accomplishments; her devotion to her children was a central pillar of her life, and she took great joy in watching them grow.

Michelle cherished the memories of family road trips when her children were young, treasuring the laughter and joy they shared. Among her favorite moments were the delightful times spent on a Caribbean cruise with her beloved family, where her vibrant spirit shone brightly.

In her leisure time, Michelle found solace in quilting, a skill learned from her grandmother Doris. This hobby not only offered her creative expression but also strengthened the ties to her cherished family legacy.

Michelle is survived by her husband of 35 years, Scott Wheeler; her beloved children, Jai Wheeler of Aurora, CO, and Shae Wheeler of Ft. Collins, CO; her devoted parents, Larry and Cheryl Warren; her brothers and sister, Larry Dale Warren, Jr. of Moscow, KS, Kristine (Daniel) Tinsman of Wakefield, KS, and Kelly (Patrick) Hume of Springfield, CO; and her grandmother, Doris Warren of Fowler, CO. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Willard "Mick" and Marie Michelsen, and her paternal grandfather, Dale Warren.

Michelle Lee Wheeler leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. Her memory will resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege to walk beside her in this life.
