Miguel Floyd Medina

Miguel F. Medina, 83, went home to be with the Lord
surrounded by his family at Denver Health Care Center in Denver.
He was born on November 3, 1930 to Mike A.
& Mary Martha (Griego) Medina.
He married Viola Valdez on June 30, 1956 in
La Junta.

Miguel joined the United States Marine Corps. where he
proudly served his country from 1952 until 1955. Miguel retired from the Pueblo
Army Depot where he was a woodworker foreman. After his retirement from the Depot
he worked part-time for the City of La Junta
as a city transit bus driver where he enjoyed assisting and meeting new people.
He was an honorary life time 3rd degree member of the Knights of
Columbus, council #1161, member of the VFW post #1092, he also was a member of
the Mariachi y Coro de Santa Maria at
Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Catholic Church. Miguel was a loving husband
and devoted father. He had many favorites in his life such as playing his many
guitars, dancing, listening to Spanish music, watching classic western movies,
shooting pool, and playing cards with his family and friends. Miguel had a
wonderful sense of humor and he especially enjoyed playful bantering with his
family members.  He loved his children
and his grandchildren and his great, grandchildren and was very proud of them! He
will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Viola of 57 years of the La
Junta home; children, Barbara L. Rosales of San Diego, CA; Miguel F., Jr.  (Jean) Medina, Eva M. (Joe) Sanchez, Carl D.
(Irene) Medina, all of Colorado Springs; Nancy D. (Bill) Root of Kalispell, MT;
Lisa F. (Paul) Sedillo of La Junta, and Carla J. (Michael) Claudio of Colorado
Springs, CO; 14 grandchildren,  nine
great-grandchildren; three sisters, two brothers; numerous god-children;
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents,
one sister and one brother.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions may make them
to the VFW Otero Post #4091 through the funeral home.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, December 6, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., both services at Our Lady Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Charles Sena of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lamar and military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8.
