Moises Andres Lujan, Jr.

January 10, 1942 — October 19, 2015

Moises Andres Lujan, Jr., 73, of Rocky Ford passed away on October 19,
2015 at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. He was born on January 10, 1942
in Sabinoso, New Mexico to Moises, Sr. & Adelina (Quintana) Lujan. Upon the death of
his mother in 1944, he and his older sister, Josie were raised by their
maternal grandfather, Miguel Antonio Quintana.
 
He
attended schools in Solano, Roy, and Logan, New Mexico. Moises was drafted
into the United States Army in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1966. He
was stationed at Fort Benning, GA and in Berlin, Germany.  He met the love
of his life, Gloria Martinez, and they were married at St. Peter’s Catholic
Church in Rocky Ford on June 14, 1969. They lived in Logan, NM and later
moved permanently to Rocky Ford in 1974 where they raised their two
daughters. He retired from Fort Lyon VA Medical Center in 1996. Moises
loved his children and grandchildren very much and enjoyed attending their
various activities never missing a concert, grandparent lunch, ball game or
wrestling match.  He loved attending area high school sporting events,
dancing, fishing and hunting, and watching the Denver Broncos and Denver
Nuggets on TV. Moises also loved his little Chihuahua Smokey. 
He is survived by his daughter, Jerri Ann (David) Stover and their children
Air Force Academy Cadet Tyler W. Stover and Aubrey N. Stover; daughter,
Jennifer (Jason) Garcia and their son Jed C. Garcia; sisters, Lucy Montano,
Corrine Church, Carolyn (Steve) Garcia, Mary Lujan, Linda (Victor) Baca,
Phyllis Lucero, Lucinda (Larry) Roybal, and Anna Marie (Tom) Trujillo and
brothers, Pat (Trina) Lujan, Phillip Lujan, and Gene Lujan all of New Mexico;
brother-in-law, George Cordova, Sr.; sister-in-law, Cindy Sena Lujan and Georgia
(Joe) Herrera, Pat (Katy) Gutierrez all of New Mexico who he considered
siblings; sister-in-law, Florence (George) Garcia and brothers-in-law, David
(Lovine) Martinez, Carlos (Maureen) Martinez, and Jimmie (Vicky) Martinez, and
special friends, Jerry (Joann) Stover and Sip (Pat) Garcia; also survived by
numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He never knew a stranger
and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Gloria, the beloved grandfather who raised him, Miguel Antonio
Quintana, his parents, and step-mother Beatrice Lujan, sister Josephine (Lujan)
Cordova, and brother Manuel Lujan. 
Those

charity of choice direct or through the funeral home.
 


Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Peter's Catholic Church. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford with Deacon Terry Marinelli and Tom Berry officiating with military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team.
