Monica Rose Elmore, 40, of Las Animas, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 15, 2024. She was born to Larry and Deborah Elmore on May 6, 1983.

Monica was a graduate of Las Animas High School. She participated in 4-H and rodeo throughout her youth and was a great lover of animals. She always had a ready smile, a kind word, or something funny to say. Monica was a loving mother of two children, a devoted aunt to seven nieces and nephews and three great nieces and nephews. Monica had a nurturing spirit and loved children, often “adopting” kids from the community, sharing meals, and offering a safe place to stay. She was beloved by many and will be missed greatly.

Monica is survived by her children, Dannel Elmore of Las Animas, CO; Tyler Thomas of Las Animas, CO; parents, Larry & Deborah Elmore of Las Animas, CO; siblings, Lorie (Dino Vialpando) Elmore of La Junta, CO; Justina (Nickole) Elmore-Lobdell of Rochester, NY; Jodie (Zach Sheppard) Vanegmond of Pueblo, CO; nephew, Michael Elmore; nieces, Kendall (Daniel Crandall) Vanegmond; Megan Vanegmond, Shayna Phillips, Morgan, Piper & Madison Elmore-Lobdell; great-nephews, Beau Crandall & Malakai Elmore; great-niece, Myah Elmore; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive. She is preceded in death by both her maternal & paternal grandparents.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta, CO. At this time there are no other services planned.
