Nancy Claire Briggs

Nancy Claire (Heere) Briggs, 59, passed away on May 23, 2018 at her Rocky Ford home. She was born on July 6, 1958 to Dr.'s Clair Louis & Gladys Isabelle (Pape) Heere in Denver, a special blessing to Chiropractic couple as Pop was 50 and Mom was 42. Thankful for chiropractic adjustment that enabled pregnancy & birth of their only child. Aunt Anna sent an antique Pennsylvania Dutch cradle to Colorado. When Nancy was 7, Aunt Anna entered eternity so cradle had special memories. Shaw Heights Jr. High school preceded 1977 Westminster High School graduation. Heere family worshipped at several churches over the years, including First German Congregational in Arvada.

Nancy enjoyed Air Force Junior ROTC at the Career Enrichment Park, where she meet Chip Briggs in 1975. In 1982, Cadet Chip jumped from one institution to another: graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy on Wed 2 Jun followed by marrying Nancy on Sat 5 Jun at High Noon (for Sun to shine through stained glass on both sides of the Academy Chapel).

Air Force sent Chip to Omaha, NE where Nancy attended classes at Grace College of the Bible with Chip receiving P. H. T. (Putting Helpmate Through) certificate in 1988 (while members of Grace Baptist Church in Omaha). Couple moved to Michigan for classes at Grand Rapids Bible College & Seminary plus joined Alpine Baptist Church. Nancy had over a hundred college credits, but lacked a Bachelor's degree. Chip & Nancy moved back to Colorado in 1989 so they could be with Nancy's Pop and Chip's grandparents: Thankful for many memories together. From 1994 to 2017, couple lived in Denver on the last half-acre of a 160 acre farm, which Chip's grandparents bought in 1924. Thankful for many years of membership in Calvary Community Church with Community Christian School :) Church membership changed to Riverside Denver in 2012. She referred to 2017 move to Rocky Ford as "Rocky Road" that reflected her bumpy transition. Thankful for many Bible Studies & Sunday Services at First Baptist Church plus Bible Studies at Church of the Nazarene.

Nancy was fond of reading (primarily Bible, favorite Book was Genesis), latch hook rug making, English Monarch History, and Sheltie dogs. Thankful for many trips together so her goal of seeing something in each of the 50 states was completed before 25th Wedding Anniversary :) Over past few years, she was Thankful for fellowship with many faith family brothers in prison.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Robert “Chip” Briggs; brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” (Shirley) Briggs and sister-in-law, Christy (Tom) Meiers, all of Westminster and cousin, Diane Ramsey of Loveland. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rocky Ford.
