Natividad Hernandez

Natividad “Tivi” Hernandez, 94, passed away on December 8, 2016 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. She was born on September 5, 1922 in La Junta to Gregorio & Martina (Betancur) Rosales, she was the last surviving member of her family.

Tivi was employed by the Fred Harvey Houses and was a “Harvey Girl” in the 1940’s. She met many movie stars of that era.

She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish. She also was a Catholic Daughter and belonged to the Circle Five. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, arts and crafts, traveling, music, and dancing.

She is survived by her husband, Mario Hernandez; children, Alfonso (Becky) Monroy of Nebraska; Christine Monroy of California; Martha (Larry) Glover of Alabama; Max (Geri) Monroy of Denver; Miguel (Emy) Monroy, and Julio (Rose) Monroy both of La Junta; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; numerous wonderful nieces and nephews also survive. Especially her niece, Fina (Herman) Sandoval and nephew, Tony (Lucy) Rosales. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Serapio Rosales, Lino Rosales, Isobel Urrea, Cruz Baca, Cresencio Rosales, Rufus Rosales, Candelaria Sanchez, and Froilan Rosales, grandsons, Larry Glover, Jr. and Chris Moreno..

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta with Father Matthew Wertin officiating.
