Norma Jean Cannon

January 9, 1938 — October 21, 2018

Norma Jean Cannon, 80, of La Junta passed away on October 21, 2018 at the Fowler Health Care Center. She was born on January 9, 1938 to Robert & Helen Alyce (Yarnell) Dawley. She married Carroll Cannon on June 3, 1956; he preceded her in death on December 28, 2013.

She was a daughter, sister, wife and mother. Her family was a vital part of her life and her friends were also important to her. She could often be seen on Tuesday's with her Tuesday Lunch Bunch.

She also had a very diverse career as an Administrative Assistant and Broker, but her dream job was as a Patient Mentor with the AlC Champions. This allowed her to combine her Toastmaster's training, speaking to her fellow Diabetics, and her love of travel. Norma was active in several organizations. She was a member of P.E.0 Chapter W, AVRMC Auxiliary and her church; to name a few.

She is survived by her daughters, LuAnn Cannon and Melody Cannon both of La Junta; daughter-in-law, Shirley Cannon of La Junta; brother, Robert Dawley of Simi Valley, CA; grandchildren, Amy Headlee of Swink; Jennifer Cannon of La Junta; Taylor Glass of Wheeling, WV and Madison Rose Glass of Chapel Hill, NC; great-grandchildren, Joseph & Emily Headlee; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Michael Cannon and sister, Laura Jane Brack.
