Opal Marie Hollenback

Opal M. Hollenback, 79, passed away on April 5, 2017 at her Rocky Ford home. Opal was born February 17, 1938 in Springfield, Colorado to Jakie & Mary G. (Ferrell) Crane. She married Jim F. Hollenback on December 14, 1953 in Raton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on October 27, 2010.

Opal loved taking care of animals on the family farm. She enjoyed collecting chicken figurines. She loved her family and friends, cooking, keeping up the house and enjoyed shopping. She supported horse shows and 4-H and was a 4-H mother. Opal will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Greg) Storey of La Junta; Shelly (Richard Evans) Hollenback of Rocky Ford; grandson, Hunter Evans; sister, Zelma Quinn of Spruce Pine, NC; numerous nieces & nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Paula; granddaughter, Stacy; sisters, Thelma & Peggy and brothers, Edwin & Hershel.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gail Allen of the Valley Cowboy Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Springfield Cemetery in Springfield.
