Patricia Ann Tafoya

Patricia Ann Tafoya, (Patsy, Pat, Mom, Grandma) was born Nov. 28, 1954, in La Junta and died Feb. 14, 2014 in La Junta.


Patricia graduated from Las Animas High School and earned her Associates degree from Otero Junior College in La Junta. Patricia married Leonard Tafoya Sr. in Las Animas, Colorado on October 28, 1978. She retired from the Social Security Administration in 2011 as a Claims Representative after 30 years where she worked with numerous members of the community. She was involved in many organizations such as a former troop leader of Cub Scouts Pack 232, she was an East Otero School District Board member and served at one time on a public education task force under Governor Romer. Patricia enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.


Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Telesforo and Carolyn Medina and sister, Shirley Ann Medina-Dawson. She is survived by husband, Leonard Tafoya; Children, Josh (Sherri) Tafoya of Loveland CO; Leonardo (Sarah) Tafoya Jr. of Wellington CO; Leann Tafoya of La Junta CO; five grandchildren; sister Cathy (Robert) Eckert of Round Rock, TX and many nephews, nieces and extended family.


The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Patricia’s name to Arkansas Valley Hospice.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.



Funeral services will be held at Peacock Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.
